英国爱普森-马来西亚分院：三大体育学院助力学子申请世界名校

　　5月18日，由新浪教育、微博教育、择校行联合主办的新浪&微博2024国际教育春季择校巡展·北京站第二场活动顺利举行。80+所京城及周边城市优质国际化学校受邀出席本次活动，极大地提高了家庭了解学校信息的效率。会上，EPSOM总校长Mr Matthew Brown接受了新浪教育的采访，以下为采访实录：

　　EPSOM学校是有着自己的独立的三个体育学院，这三个运动学院的优势在哪里？

　　We know that Epsom College in Malaysia has three world-class sports academy, what are the advantages of these three sports academies?

　　Mr Matthew Brown：

　　我认为优势在于找到学习和运动的平衡，我们知道，孩子们在其中一个领域的自信会使得他在其他领域中找到信心，当你成为一个自信的运动员时，你也可以在学术上变得自信。而英国爱普森马来西亚分院能够提供的是在同一个校园内实现这个运动与学术的平衡。

　　I think it is important to find that balance between academics and sports. We know that the confidence in one area will lead to confidence in the other area, when you become a confident sportsman, you can become confident in academics I think what we offer at EPSOM is that we can have this within the same campus.

　　在这里我们可以不用分散精力在不同的地方完成学业和体育。我们把一切都集中在一起，一切都在五分钟内进行，打个比方，学生们可以在上数学课，五分钟后他们在可以在网球场训练，或者在踢足球，或者在打高尔夫，然后五分钟后，他们就在餐厅用餐，或者五分钟后，他们又回到宿舍的卧室里。我们把所有设施都集中在一起，所以在同一天内学生们可能早上开始网球培训，中午上课，傍晚再打网球，高尔夫或足球，一切都在一个地方，我们可以很好地利用时间，每天都可以过得很充实。有效的在学习和运动中有所拓展，所以我认为这就是英国爱普森马来西亚分院在平衡学习和运动做得非常好的一点。

　　It's not like trying to do your education in one part and then traveling across Beijing to do your sport. We do it all together and everything is within five minutes, so they can be in a mathematics lesson; five minutes later, they are on the tennis courts or they're playing football or they're playing golf and then five minutes later they're in our dining hall or five minutes later they're in their boarding; in their bedroom. We bring it all together very close so on the whole day they might start with tennis then they're doing their lessons then in the evening they're doing more tennis, golf or football. Everything is in one place and the time we can use very well. At the end of the day they are tired but they have a successful day of learning and sports so I think that that's how we can offer being all in one place.

　　运动在大学申请过程中可以给孩子带来怎样的机会？

　　What opportunities can sports offer children when it comes to university application?

　　Mr Matthew Brown：

　　大学在招生时寻找的是什么？他们在寻找的是一个全面发展的人，不仅能学习还要有良好的个性、个人素质、价值观和技能。尤其是美国的大学，他们在寻找不仅仅能学习的学生还有能为大学的体育生活做出贡献的学生。

　　What is it that universities are looking for? They are looking for a full rounded person who can do study but also has good personality as good individual values and skills, especially American universities. They are looking for students that can offer more than just study, they are looking for students who can contribute to the sporting life of the university.

　　我们与法国的Mouratoglou团队密切合作，成功协助很多学生们进入美国的大学，并获得奖学金，因为那些大学看到了体育的好处以及给大学带来的价值。

　　So we work closely with the Mouratoglou team in France and help students to go on to universities in the US and they are getting scholarships. Those universities see the benefit of sports and what that brings to the university.

　　今年我们有学生去了斯坦福大学，也有学生被伯克利大学和加拿大的大学录取。这些都是非常受欢迎的目的地，而这些大学不仅喜欢看到优秀的学术表现也喜欢看到优秀的体育技能。所以，尤其是在美国如果你擅长体育，将会有很多学习机会。

　　This year we have students going to Stanford, we had student getting offered places in Berkeley and also in Canada as well. America and Canada are very popular destination and those universities love to see not just good study but also good sports skills. So if you are good at sport go study especially in the US, you will have many opportunities.
