　　Located in the heart of the Netherlands, Utrecht University--the largest university in the Netherlands--is firmly founded on tradition. UU was established in 1636 and has developed into one of Europe's most prominent institutes of research and education offering the broadest spectrum of discipline available in the Netherlands. The UU offers 3 English taught Bachelor's programmes and 89 Master's programmes。

　　In 2008 we received excellent ratings in various international rankings of universities. The 'Academic Ranking of World Universities 2008' report, compiled by researchers of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Institute of Higher Education, ranks the world's top 500 universities on academic and research performance. It placed Utrecht University at the number 47 within the top 500 of the world's best universities, at number 9 within the top 100 of Europe's best universities and at number 1 of the 14 Dutch universities.
