Expecting and Waiting 期待和等待的区别

Hello. I want to ask a question about the difference between Expect and Wait, as I heard some people say ''I'm expecting someone'' and I wonder why they don't say "I'm waiting for someone". I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

This week's question is asking about the differences between expecting and waiting for someone. We often say we expect things to happen because they are likely to happen and sometimes at a certain time, like expecting a bus to turn up.

When we are waiting we are usually hanging about as time passes, waiting for something to happen or someone to turn up. We are often waiting because something or someone is late.

Is this the bus the man was expecting?

For further explanation wait no longer and listen to this week's Question and Answer of the Week with Rob and Fei Fei.

If you have a question for our team, send it to us at questions.chinaelt@bbc.co.uk and we might answer it on this programme.
