1. Lots of things

　　A quick way to tell someone that you did many different things. It can be used in situations that are slightly more complicated because of the variety of possibilities. For example, if Jack asks, "Mary, what is wrong with your brother?" Now Mary knows that her brother has many, many problems that would take some time to explain so instead she just replies with, "Lots of things." If Jack wants to know more he can ask, if not he can ask at another time. In the dialogue the phrase was used to answer, "What else is there to do in Canada?" Obviously, a country has many possible activities so it was an effective way to answer the question.

　　2. I hear the...

　　This is a very common way to say, "I am aware of" or "I am familiar with" something. The next time that you are talking with your friends or colleagues try this little phrase. You could say, "I hear that the new boss is from Italy." or "I hear that salmon is good for your skin." It is easy to use and makes conversations more friendly.

　　3. Just like the movies

　　A movie is a placeswheresfantasy becomes reality. It is the place of dreams. There will be a time when your life is similar to a movie. This can be good and bad, of course. In the scene, Julia is talking about how romantic and beautiful everything was in Italy. It reminded her of the scenes in movies she had seen. It was so special that she could not believe it.
