　　Do you want to learn an unusual talent that will impress your classmates? Maybe you could learn the art of ventriloquism. Ventriloquism is controlling your voice so that it seems to be someone else’s. It is often called“throwing your voice”because you make your voice seem to come from a different place.

　　Ventriloquism has been practiced for centuries. In fact, the ancient Romans came up with the name. It became popular as entertainment in the 19th and 20th centuries. Performers often did comedy shows with large, movable puppets.

　　To practice your ventriloquist voice, keep your lips motionless and move only the tip of your tongue to make sounds. It helps to say words quickly. You might never be ready to perform on TV, but it may help make you the class clown.
