Definition: 1. n. a feeling of extreme worry and unhappiness

如果船只在海上遇险可以说a ship in distress,发出的求救信号可以说成a distress signal. Distress的过去分词可以做表语,表示“痛苦,难受”,如:Why are you looking so distressed?你这么悲伤是怎么回事儿?它的现在分词可以做形容词,表示(使人)痛苦难受,如:It was a distressing situation for all of them.对他们所有人来说都很痛苦的事情。又如:a distressed voice痛苦的嗓音。还可以表示“廉价出售的”,如:distressed goods廉价出售的货物,但是distressed region则是说“贫困的”地区。
