课文内容:
Tia and Rick are college classmates talking after class.
Tia: Hey Rick, was that your girlfriend I saw you with yesterday?
Rick: Oh, Cindy? Yeah. We’ve been seeing each other for a while.
Tia: Don’t tell me you’re another one of those guys with an Asian fetish.
Rick: What do you mean?
Tia: I see personal ads all the time form white men looking for Asian women. You know the fantasy—exotic, submissive geisha who will hang on their every word and service their needs.
Rick: Give me a break. I’m not that shallow. Cindy and I met in class and really hit it off. We have a lot of in common.
Tia: I am sorry. I shouldn’t jump to conclusion, but you know what I mean.
Rick: Yeah, I hear you. What’s your take on interracial dating? Do you have sour grapes because black women have a tougher time of it?
Tia: I’ve dated men who were Asian, black, white, Latino—you name it. But some men seem afraid to approach me. Maybe their culture hasn’t prepared them for a strong woman.
Rick: Have your boyfriends’families ever tried to stand in the way of your relationship?
Tia: Not really. Luckily, I grew up in an area that was pretty mixed and open-minded.
Rick: So you’ll continue to date all kind of men?
Tia: Why limit myself? I’m an equal opportunity heartbreaker.
