A popular story is often told to children about a prince who has been turned into<注1> a frog. When the frog asks a princess to kiss him, she says“no”because the frog is too ugly. But the frog finally gets his kiss, turns backsintosa handsome prince, and the princess agrees<注2> to marry him. This story has a powerful<注3> message: Good-looking people get the best things in life.
Ordinary<注4> people are not as lucky as the prince. If you look like a frog, not even a hundred kisses from a princess will change that. In the real world, the way you look is important. Studies have found that good-looking people make friends more easily. Also, how much money people make, or how successful they are, often has something to do with their looks.<注5>
