Newly crowned Volvo PGA Champion Anders Hansen admitted he was a bag of nerves during Sunday's final round.
The Dane certainly held his composure well though, carding a closing 70 to accompany rounds of 68, 65 and 66 to claim his first ever professional title after no fewer than 105 previous attempts.
But Hansen, who is the first golfer to make the Volvo PGA Championship their maiden win, revealed that their was little pleasure to be taken from his final round.
"I felt absolutely horrible out there," said the 31-year-old. "It was the hardest 18 holes I ever played in my entire life."
Hansen had admitted that Saturday's 66 would put him in good stead for the final round, and that was clearly the case.
"I felt stomach cramps, but dealing with the pressure yesterday helped me come through today," he continued.
"I slept alright. I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't go back to sleep. Then I woke up in the morning and couldn't go back to sleep. It's just been a tough night."
It would seem that a restless night and an ardous four hours on the golf course were well worth the effort for Hansen, given that he picked up a cool£333,330 winner's cheque, along with a five year exemption to the European Tour.
Having experienced so much pain out on the West course, Hansen revealed his pleasure as he sat next to the spectacular silver trophy.
"To sit here today as a winner of this tournament is beyond my wildest fantasy," Hansen continued.
"Winning this tournament as the first tournament is unbelievable.
"I'll find out what this means to me over the next few days and the next few weeks.
"I can't imagine it would go as well as it did."
Hansen was due to play at next week's British Masters at Woburn, but instead he will take time out to 'get back down to earth' and spend time with his young son.
