Chinese divers dominated the opening day's competitions by taking four titles at the FINA Diving Grand Prix Wednesday in Xi'an.
Chinese won the men's and women's platform synchronized events Wednesday afternoon. Chinese duet Xu Hao and Xu Xiang took the men's title with a total score of 336.72 points, followed by Pak Yong Ryong and Kim Song Jin from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Malaysians Rossharisham Bin Roslan and Low Lap Bun.
The women's title went to Chinese duet of Li Na and Sun Na, who collected a total of 307.17 points. Japanese Takako Nabeshima and Tomoko Arai were the runners-up and the bronze medal went to Australians Annna McElwaine and Carlie Gidman.
Chinese divers also outscored others in the men's and women's three-meter springboard synchronized events, with Huang Qiang and Wang Kenan taking the men's title with 324.96 points and Yang Yuting and Chen Wen winning the women's gold with 295.20.
Li Na made it double for herself as she grabbed the gold medal with 573.24 points in the women's platform event Wednesday evening. Her compatriot and winning partner in the platform synchronized event Sun Na was second with 486.24 and Jon Hyon Ju from DPRK took the bronze with 449.22.
Other events on the program for the three-day China Grand Prix are men's platform and men's and women's three-meter springboard diving.
Competing in the event are over 60 divers from Australia, France, Germany, Japan, DPR Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, the United States, Vietnam, Chinese Taipei and China.
