Danehurst, expected by many to prove the main rival to Kyllachy in the King's Stand Stakes (more on that in the third paragraph), has not been declared for the five furlong sprint and will bid to take on the likes of Johannesburg, Caller One and Three Points in thesgroups1 Golden Jubilee Stakes instead.
One of 25 confirmations for the six-furlong showpiece of the Saturday card, despite being a very sharp performer Danehurst proved herself over this longer trip when winning at Newmarket and Doncaster last back-end but not against the class of opposition she will face here.
For a soft-ground performer, it does seem bizarre she will be running on Saturday rather than Tuesday as the ground is likely to have dried out by then. That is, until we takesintosaccount that her owner, Cheveley Park Stud, have only just announced they have bought a share in Kyllachy and it is that factor that no doubt had something to do with why she is not taking on that speedball in the King's Stand.
Other class acts left in the Golden Jubilee Stakes include Landseer (due to run in the St James's Palace Stakes), Sophisticat (due to run in the Coronation Stakes) and, well that's about it really. The rest are pretty much the usual faces who take it in turn to beat each other atsgroups3 level.
