Treasure sword and Cyan-china best exemplify the traditional charm of Chinese culture. It is amazing that their provenances are the same place—Longquan, Zhejiang province.

　　The exhibition of“Longquan Cyan-china”and“Longquan sword”held at the Ethnical Culture Palace in this early summer enjoyed a good reputation. The visitors were all convulsed by the excellence and exquisition of the craftworks. The swords and Cyan-china also brought people back to the ancient times to their fantastic history.

　　The delegation was headed by Ba Yinchaolu, The vice governor of Zhejiang province. The Chinese leaders, Bu He and Jin Shuping attended the exhibition as honorable guests and greatly appreciated the exhibits.

　　About Longquan

　　Longquan lies in the border area of South Zhejiang and under the Longquan Mountain (Fengyang Mountain) in National Natural Area. It is entitled the“City of Cyan-china”and“City of Treasure Sword”.

　　Tracing back to the Neolithine Age, there were human beings living in Longquan city of the time. Longquan City is rich in historical culture and natural resources, especially in its Cyan-china and sword. Longquan Cyan-china first appeared in the Jin Dynasty of Chinese history. When in Song Dynasty, its crafts came to a climax and were one of the five famous kilns in China. With exquisite and novel design, Longquan Cyan-china is welcomed all over the world.

　　Grand mountains and blue rivers surround beautiful Longquan City. Forests cover 70% of this land. Huang maojian, with its altitude of 1929 meters, is the highest peak in Longquan Mountain (Fengyang Mountain), the national natural protection area, and even the highest peak in Jiangsu and Zhejiang area. Longquan Mountain is also praised as the“Cradle of Fossil Plants in East China”because of its age-old, rich, pure and quiet nature zoology.

　　Longquan Cyan-china

　　Longquan Cyan-china first appeared in the Jin Dynasty of Chinese history. And it began to take shape in the Northern Song Dynasty. Then it reached a heyday in Song Dynasty when making cyan-china reached an unprecedented size, and cyan-china-making crafts came to a climax, resultantly Longquan became the most famous cyan-china center. It fellsintosdecay in Qing dynasty. And since New China was founded, with the care of Premier Zhou Enlai, Longquan cyan-china began to recur its former prosperity.

　　In tradition, Longquan Cyan-china has“elder brother kiln”and“younger brother kiln”. The former together with famed Guan, Ru, Ding, Jun are called the“Five famous kilns in Song Dynasty”, which is characterized by“base is as thin as piece of paper, glaze is as thick as a jade, grains is bestrewed in the glaze, purple mouth and iron feet, base color is black, looks elegant”; while the latter is white base and cyan glaze and looks elegant and simple, among them the light greenish blue and plum blue are the top grade, and pea green comes second.

　　From generation to generation Longquan Cyan-china had been special used for ancient Chinese emperors, and became salable all over China. It has been far marketed in Asia, Africa and Europe since Song Dynasty of ancient China.

　　Modern Longquan cyan-china inherits the characteristics of ancient products and makes breakthroughs. It has always won the champions in all-previous different National competitions, and been entitled the“national treasure”. It is shown and collected in the Great Hall of the People, Ziguang Pavilion of Zhong Nan Hai, Museum of Emperor Palace, China Historical Museum, etc.

　　On Oct.13, 1998, a series of memorial stamp: Chinese Ceramics-Longquan Porcelain (four pieces of one series) was launched by China Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.

　　Longquan cyan-china is blossoming and the products are far marketed in more than 60 countries and areas.

　　Longquan sword

　　Ou Yezi, who was a famous sword maker, made the first renowned sword”Longquan Sword”in the periods of Warring States of the Spring and Autumn Period in China. It is recorded in“Wise Men Records of Baiyue“that Ou Yezi dug Cishan Mountain and released its current water to fetch itabirites and made three swords named“Longquan”,“Tai a”and“Gongbu”. The Longquan city was once called“Longyuan city”for its famous Longyuan sword, which was renamed in Tang Dynasty because“Yuan”was a taboo word used by Li Yuan, the first emperor of Yang Dynasty. Since then, Longquan sword has been known throughout the world, and while referring to sword, people always think of Longquan sword.

　　Since the period of Ou Yezi, the crafts of making Longquan sword passed down from generation to generation and gradually formed four characteristics:“sharp and tough, flexible and strong, glittered coldly, and exquisite”. Longquan sword has always been the champion in all previous National Wushu Appliance Competitions.

　　Since the establishment of New China, the Longquan sword factory has built and presented Longquan sword to some leaders of the Party and country like Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping Yang Shangkun, Qiao Shi, Wu Lanfu, and also some worldwide famous worthies like Nixon. They accepted them as personal collection and highly praised it. Chinese leaders and worthies like Yang Shangkun, Wu Lanfu, Li Desheng, and Zhang Aiping have respectively written inscriptions. On Dec, 18, 1997, a series of memorial ICTelephone Magcard-Longquan Sword (four pieces for one series) was launched by China Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. Longquan Sword is developing and sells well all over the world.
