We all know that sex sells, and nowhere is this truer than in the pop music industry. But while we are used to singers like Britney Spears and Madonna dressing and acting provocatively to attract fans and sell records, classical musicians usually give this path a miss. So what's with the sexed-up Vanessa-Mae and bond girls anyway? Are they really talented, or does their success lie solely in their looks?
The truth is, aside from the pouting lips and stellar figures, these women are accomplished musicians. Vanessa-Mae took up the violin at the age of 5, after having begun learning the piano at age 3. Her first performance was at 9, and at 10 she played with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. By the time she was 13, Vanessa-Mae had already made three classical recordings. Three years later, she released her first "pop" album, "the Violin Player." Likewise, the women of bond all spent years studying classical music at prestigious academies.
