Marty becomes Selma's packing coach:
M: Now, tell me what else is in those bags.
S: Okeydokey. Shorts, a parka --
M: A parka in North Africa? Get a grip! And shorts, Selma, are culturally inappropriate.
S: Right. I'll amend that to a light jacket and pants, then. ... And no jeans: they're heavy, and they take forever to dry.
M: Good! With so few items, the key is to mix and match; that means nixing those won-go-with-anything purple-and-green high-tops I see there.
S: OK, I'll go for a decent pair of walking shoes instead, in a neutral7 color. How about the sarong I got in Thailand last year?
M: Take it: you can't go wrong with an all-in-one wrap, beach blanket, sheet, and scarf.
S: That'll leave plenty of room for the economy-sized toiletries8 I picked up.
M: Think again! Remember: the lighter the bags, the more enjoyable the journey.
S: Right. Small bottles it is then. Wow! At this rate, I'll get everythingsintosone bag -- and a pint-sized one at that! I could even take it on the plane as carry-on luggage!
M: That was the whole point of this lesson. Congratulations on completing your crash course in "packing 101", Selma.
S: Thanks to you, Marty, I'll never make light of packing again!
