　　Westerners have a different concept of "personal space" than Chinese. When you're just meeting a Westerner for the first time, it is important not to get too close to him/her. You should stay at least half a meter away, and even a little further if you're face to face. If you get too close it will seem too intimate and awkward. Westerners generally will only get very close to someone only if they know them very well.

　　中西方所理解的"安全距离"是不一样的。第一次与老外见面，不要与他靠得太近至少保持半米的距离。如果是面对面，还要离得更远些。双方离得过于近时，给人感觉太亲密，是非常不舒服的。西方人只有在熟识对方的情况下才会靠得很近。所以和陌生人搭讪时，尤其是和老外说话时，一定要保持距离哟！距离产生美感嘛！
