连词是英语词法类别中的一大项, 它在英语词法类别中扮演着重要角色,而且连词的使用频率非常高,可以说,连词是无处不在,无处不有。综观历年高考命题,对连词的考查占了一定的比例。通过对近年高考连词命题的研悟,我们会发现,对连词的考查出现了新的命题特点,那就是由对连词常规意义的考查转向反常规意义的考查,这充分体现了命题者的匠心独运之处,而且也给我们广大备考师生提出了学习和掌握连词用法的新方向。为此,笔者认为,对高考连词的考点必须予以特别关注。本文拟就高考连词考点予以分析归纳,现分述如下,仅供参考。

　　典型命题

　　1. Excuse me for breaking in, ________I have some news for you.

　　2. Mr. Hall understands that________math has always been easy for him, it is not easy for the students.

　　A. unless B. since C. although D. when

　　解读: but, although, though充当连词时应注意以下几个方面的用法:1)but充当并列连词,表示与上句意义上的转折,但是应当注意:汉语中常说"虽然……,但是……",但英语中Although / Though...but...连用是错误的,但可以说Although / Though...yet.... 3)but可构成"Excuse me / I am(feel) sorry, but..."句式,常用来表示委婉的拒绝,其意义为"真遗憾/真不好意思,不过……"。

　　解读:此句中before的意义为"在……没有之前就……",表明主句动作发生在从句动作之前。

　　特别提示:before引导的从句的译法相当灵活,常见的有以下几种:

　　1) not...before... ……以前不……

　　I didn't know English before I came here. 我来这儿之前不懂英语。

　　2) not long before... 过不了多久就(会)……

　　It wasn't long before they met again. 没多久他们又见面了。

　　It won't be long before they meet again. 过不了多久他们还会见面。

　　3) It was long before... 过了很久才……

　　It was long before I knew it. 过了很久我才知道那件事。

　　解读:一般来讲,since充当连词有以下两方面的功能:1)引导时间状语从句,从句常用过去时态,主句常用一般现在时态或完成时态,构成"It+be+一段时间+since...",表示"自从……以来已有……时间",从句的谓语动词常为非延续性动词。但是,如果从句谓语动词为延续性动词,则表示" 自从该动作结束以来已有多久了"。2)引导原因状语从句,表示原因已为人所知。如:

　　It is years since I smoked. 我戒烟已经数年了。

　　Since he says so, it must be true. 既然他这样说了,那一定是真的了。
