The Olympic flame has visited Ukraine as it continues its global trek ahead of the Athens Games in Greece.

　　Ukrainian pole vault legend Sergei Bubka carried the Olympic flame through the streets of Kiev on Monday for the first time since the Soviet Union hosted the Moscow Olympic Games 24 years ago.

　　Sports and media personalities carried the torch along the 38-kilometer route, which was lined by tens of thousands of spectators before Bubka ran the final leg to Independence Square in the heart of the city.

　　Kiev is the 29th stop of a 34-city tour as the flame makes its way to the official opening of the Games in Athens on August 13. The Olympics will run through August 29.
