2月14日就是情人节(Valentine's Day)了，在各个英语学习论坛上，询问如何写英文情书的帖子特别多。关于这个问题，我想在这里说两点。第一点，英文情书并不是一种特殊的文体，不需要特别的格式，你平常的英文文章怎样写，你的英文情书也怎样写，两者完全相同，所以这一点我就不多说了，我下面重点说说第二点。

　　第二点，我们都知道，如果一个女人喜欢上一个男人，那么在这个男人身上，一定有某些优点，值得这个女人去喜欢，比如英俊、勇敢、诚实、幽默等等。遗憾的是，男人的绝大多数优点，比如“诚实”，必须要男人与女人亲自接触一段时间之后，才能够表现出来，惟独“幽默”这个优点，可以不需要男女亲自接触，仅仅通过情书，就可以表现出来。所以在西方国家，许多男孩给美眉写情书，不是以华丽的辞藻，而是以幽默的语言，来博得美眉的芳心。

　　下面这封情书，是一家公司的市场部经理(化名罗密欧)，以公司之间商业信函的正式文体，给人事部的一位美眉秘书(化名朱丽叶)写的情书。在这封情书中，罗密欧故意使用许多商业术语，让人觉得很滑稽，很搞笑，但朱丽叶看后，心里却很高兴，欣然同意与罗密欧交往。这其中的原因，就是我前面说的第二点：女人喜欢幽默的男人。下面就是这封搞笑情书的原文，您可以拿去参考，顺便祝您成功。

　　Dearest Miss Juliet,

　　I am very happy to inform you that I have fallen in love with you since the 14th of October (Sunday). With reference to the meeting held between us on the 13th of October at 15:00, I would like to present myself as a prospective lover.

　　Our love affair would be on probation for a period of three months and depending on compatibility, would be made permanent. Of course, upon completion of probation, there will be continuous on the job training and performance appraisal schemes leading up to promotion from lover to spouse.

　　The expenses incurred for coffee and entertainment would initially be shared equally between us. Later, based on your performance, I might take up a larger share of the expenses. However I am broadminded enough to be taken care of, on your expense account.

　　I request you to kindly respond within 30 days of receiving this letter, failing which, this offer would be cancelled without further notice and I shall be considering someone else. I would be happy, if you could forward this letter to your sister, if you do not wish to take up this offer.
