　　Did you see The Lord of the Rings? If so, you probably remember Orlando Bloom. He played Legolas, the elf whose skill with the bow and arrow terrified his orc enemies. Women worldwide fell hard for Bloom’s handsome face. Overnight, he became an international heartthrob.

　　But Orlando Bloom is more than just eye candy—he’s a dedicated actor. Back in high school, Orlando’s grades were nothing to write home about. When he was just sixteen, he moved to London by himself to study theater. By following his heart, he found his calling on stage.

　　It was in theater school that the clumsy Bloom fell three stories and broke his back. At first, doctors feared he would never walk again, but Orlando defied the odds. After just twelve days in the hospital, he walked out on crutches.

　　Not long after, Bloom auditioned for The Lord of the Rings. He didn’t expect anything to come of it. When his agent told him he had won the part of Legolas, Orlando was beside himself. It was the chance he’d been waiting for.

　　就是在戏剧学校里，手脚不灵活的布鲁从三层楼高的地方跌下来，摔断了他的脊背。一开始，医生担心他可能再也无法走路了，但是奥兰多决心要跟命运一搏。他只在医院里待了12天，就拄着拐杖离开了。

　　出院不久，布鲁便参加了《魔戒》试镜会。那时他根本不指望会雀屏中选。当经纪人告诉奥兰多他赢得了勒苟拉斯这个角色时，他简直是欣喜若狂。这正是奥兰多等待多时的机会。
