A 2-meter-tall headless stone statue has been discovered in the Minjiang River, where the great Dujiangyan irrigation system lies. Archeologists say the statue was made in the Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-220 A.D.) and might be one of the three "Stone Gods" buried under the Dujiangyan Dam to fend off river monsters. Two other stone statues were discovered in the 1970s. Dujiangyan irrigation system, boasting a history of over 2,000 years, has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (CRI) |
