　　我是这样学英语的

　　Search For the Spirit of Learning English

　　------English opened a window for me.

　　This is Sophia, who is fond of learning English.

　　I started to learn Cambridge Young Learners English at the age of 7. That time, English was a friend to me because I wasn’t learning anything serious, for example, grammar. But the experience of singing and chatting in English joyfully gave me the feeling that English is a language, which can bring people a lot of joy. At that time, English was indeed a good friend to me.

　　After finished learning the courses of Cambridge Young Learners English, I stepped in to the serious field of English. Grammar was coming. At that time, English turned to be a monster because grammar was obviously not so easy to take command of. I was pretty afraid of it.

　　Not until I entered middle school, did I start to learn grammar formally. I was as hard-working as a beginner in learning English. I took note of the English classes carefully and do the homework as carefully as possible. Being a monitor of the English class also gave me the pressure and strength to carry on learning. Fortunately, my hard work and confidence helped me to conquer the “monster”. Besides, with the help of our strict teacher, I also learnt how to be a powerful speaker, how to host a party, and how to organize English activities and so on. I found myself gifted, for, when I was learning English, I was so active and eager. And gained a lot of confidence through speaking English. English was definitely my favorite subject.

　　In junior3, I took part in a Speech Contest in our city and was in the second place. During the high school entrance examination, I got 117 in English, which was one of the highest scores in the whole city.

　　English gained me a lot of confidence.

　　In high school, my passion in English is increasing at a tremendous speed. I have being reading English novels, watching English movies; those things are really the charm of English. I have being in the English Debate Club as well, which provide me the chance to exercise my oral English more efficiently. I developed friendship with some of the English teachers in our school, and that helped me to learn more about the cultures in other countries. Of course, I made a gang of friends who are all English lovers. And I have recently taken part in a Speech Contest at school, and got the championship, which spurred me to work harder on English. So, to me, English is no longer only a language, but also a colorful world full of wonders.

　　Yes, English opened a window for me and the language is now a bridge for me to communicate with other people, and I know English will be my life-long companion. It’s a long road, and there is much more to pursue. Will you wish me good luck?

　　Sophia has always been an outstanding student in English. She started to learn English at a young age. When she entered Junior One, she studied as hard as those beginners. She showed her great interest and talent in learning English. Her pronunciation is beautiful, and her vocabulary is large. She can organize sentences fast. She is very good at writing English compositions. She always listened very carefully in class and responded to teacher’s questions frequently. She could always finish her task, such as an English report, in high quality. She was the English monitor for three years as a Junior High school student. She was an excellent helper, and she was always willing to help others. She is a very understanding and kind girl. Whenever her classmates had any questions in English, she always gave them a hand.

　　She is a very sweet girl. She likes English and practices English as often as possible. After all these years, she has developed a good habit of learning English. As her English teacher, I hope she can greet another success in her life.

　　I have been teaching Sophia English since she is a senior one student. I still remember the first time I met her in the classroom. She was sitting there quietly with an angel-like smile on her face. When she introduced herself, she spoke English exquisitely and fluently. That’s what impressed me the most at that moment. There is no doubt that the students in our school have a high demand of English. However, Sophia is the unique one. She has much experience in taking part in English competitions. She can be totally at ease with herself and comfortable expressing anything she thinks with a voice of confidence and charm. She can look at your eyes gracefully while talking with you cheerfully. Besides this, Sophia has a passionate interest in English. As to her, listening to English and reading English is a kind of enjoyment. There are privities between us- she raises various questions about English in her notebook and I supply her with the clew that inspires her to find the answers. It’s very interesting that her notebook is always one of the most popular reference books in her class.

　　Sophia is not only good at spoken English but written English as well. She likes to read English novels and take notes. She likes to recite some classic paragraphs with joy and appreciation. She likes to share her feeling of love towards life with her classmates. She is such a kind and lovely girl I have ever seen. Since she is so hard working, I believe that she can do a good job in the Outlook English Talent Competition.
