　　7. Snowmagedden & Snowpocalypse

纪念去年年底的大雪

　　Portmanteau words linking "snow" with "apocalypse" and  "armageddon", used to describe the record snowfalls in the US East Coast and Northern Europe last winter。

　　这个词是用来指在去年年底在美国以及北欧地区遭受的暴风雪袭击。09年10月中旬，德国、奥地利、瑞士和波兰等国便迎来去年的第一场雪，打破了最早下雪记录。

　　“Snowmagedden”以及“Snowpocalypse”分别是“snow+armageddon(界末日善恶决战的战场)”和“snow+apocalypse(世界末日的启示)”的合成词。

　　8. 3-D

“3-D”牙膏

　　Three-dimensional (as in movies) is buffo box office this year, but 3-D is being used in new ways generally describing "robustness" in products (such as toothpaste)。

　　从《阿凡达》的上映开始，多部3D电影在2010年以前所未有的曝光率出现在我们面前。不过现在，3-D不仅可以用在电影上，还可以用在比如“佳洁士3D立白牙膏”神马的地方……

　　9. Shellacking

美国中期选举

　　President Obama’s description of the "old-fashioned thumpin" in George W. Bush’s words, that Democrats received in the 2010 US Mid-term elections。

　　“Shellacking”指的是“非常惨痛的失败”。

　　在前阵子刚结束的美国中期选举中，奥巴马就用这样一个词来描述这次选举结果。

　　10. Simplexity

表面上很简单

　　The paradox of simplifying complex ideas in order to make them easier to understand, the process of which only adds to their complexity。

　　这个单词是“simple”和“complex”的合体型，看着就非常得似是而非自相矛盾吧。

　　当我们试图将一些极其复杂的概念和东西整成相对简单的东西时，有时候可能反而把它弄得更加复杂了。
