An oral English class at a university in Sichuan province recently stumbled upon a way to improve communication skills： the students， from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics （SWUFE） taught their foreign teacher how to play mahjong。
四川成都西南财经大学的英语课堂上出现了一种别开生面授课方法：该口语班的同学们教外教老师打麻将，并以此来提高英语口语表达和沟通能力。
The unusual classroom activity was first publicized on the microblog of a SWUFE student surnamed Huang。 In the picture he uploaded， a foreign lady is looking at the mahjong tile in her hand beside a makeshift table of three desks。 Next to her is a Chinese girl， advising the woman on her next move。
这种独特的授课方式最先是被西南财经大学一位姓黄的同学发布到微博上去的。从微博的配图中可以看到，在一张由三张课桌拼成的桌子上，有一副砌好的麻将，一位外国女性正在旁边一位中国女学生的指导下认真地看着手上的牌。
According to Huang， the mahjong game happened as part of an oral English class for freshmen。 The foreigner is a teacher named Mary， who is originally from Kenya。 Huang said that mary asked the students to bring a board game to class in order to improve their English communication ability。 Mahjong proved to be the most popular。
这位姓黄的同学表示，这堂课是大一的同学上口语课时发生的事。照片上的老师是肯尼亚外教玛丽。玛丽本来是让同学们带一种桌游来和大家交流，目的是为了增加大家英语口语沟通能力。结果大家最后都把麻将带到了课堂上。
Huang thought it was an interesting class。 Though some people questioned the foreignteacher’s professionalism， Huang held that her unusual method stimulates students’ desire for studying and actually did improve their communication skills。
黄同学认为这节课非常有趣。虽然有些人因此质疑这位外教是否有不务正业之嫌，但黄认为正是她这种别开生面的教学方式激发了同学们学习的热情与积极性，并且在过程中也确实提高了同学们的英语沟通与表达能力。
