　　在复习2016考研[微博]英语单词的时候，要注意三点：一是拼写；二是活跃词的搭配；三是多义词的生僻义。注意拼写是指我们在写作中尽量不要犯拼写错误这种低级失误；注意搭配和生僻义是因为在考研英语阅读中，这些词一般都是通过搭配和生僻义给我们造成干扰的。

　　★linear

　　a。线的，直线的，线状的；长度的；线性的

　　【例1】Ants move in linear progression, following each other very closely。蚂蚁们一只紧跟着一只，排成直线行进。

　　【例2】The box is 5 meters in linear measure。这个盒子有五米长。

　　【例3】We have a linear algebra mid-term exam tomorrow。我们明天要进行线性代数的期中考[微博]试。

　　【构词】line(直线)+-ar→线的，直线的

　　★overhead

　　a。在头顶上的；架空的

　　n。(pl。)企业一般管理费用；生产和贸易的费用

　　【例1】An overhead railway was built across the center of the city。市中心建起了一条高架铁路。

　　【例2】He is in charge of the overhead expenses in the company。他在公司负责经费开支。

　　★overseas

　　a。外国的，海外的

　　ad。在海外

　　【例】There is a large amount of overseas students in my university。我的大学里有很多外国留学[微博]生。

　　【同义替换】abroad

　　★ridge

　　n。岭，山脉；屋脊；鼻梁

　　【例1】They ride up along a sloping ridge covered with pine trees。他们沿着长满松树的山脉斜坡骑马而上。

　　【例2】A flock of birds landed on the roof’s ridge。一群鸟落在屋脊上。

　　【例3】There is a scar on the robber’s ridge。那个盗贼的鼻梁上有一道疤痕。

　　【同义替换】range

　　★perform

　　v。履行，执行；表演，演出；运用，使用

　　【例1】The surgeon performed the operation successfully。外科医生成功地完成了手术。

　　【例2】The children performed a three act play。孩子们表演了一出三幕剧。

　　【例3】The new drug has performed well in tests。那种新药试验效果不错。

　　【构词】per-(全部)+form(形式)→表演需将各种艺术形式综合起来

　　【同义替换】fulfill, implement, execute; act, play, show, exhibit; apply, utilize

　　【派生】performance n。表演；表现，绩效；性能

　　★costume

　　n。(流行的)服饰；戏装，(特定场合的)套装

　　【例1】People wore historical costumes for the parade。人们穿着古装参加游行。

　　【例2】Dressed up as a bumblebee, John won the prize for the best costume。约翰把自己装扮成大黄蜂，赢得了最佳服饰奖。

　　【构词】cost(花费)+u(你)+me(我)→你我都免不了花钱买衣服→服饰

　　【同义替换】dress, clothes, garment, apparel
