　　What Is the Royal Family’s Surname? Well, Windsor Of Course. But is it really as simple as that?

　　英国王室姓什么？当然是温莎。但真的就这么简单吗？

　　Before 1917, members of the British Royal Family had no surname, but only the name of the house or dynasty to which they belonged. Kings and queens therefore signed themselves by their first names only, a tradition in the United Kingdom which has continued to the present day。

　　1917年之前，英国王室成员并没有姓，名字中只有所处的王朝名称或房子名称。国王或女王在签署文件时也只写名字，直到现在英国还保持着这一签名传统。

　　In 1917, George V specifically adopted Windsor, not only as the name of the 'House' or dynasty, but also as the surname of his family. The Royal Family name of Windsor was confirmed by The Queen after her accession in 1952.

　　1917年，乔治五世不仅将其统治的王朝和王室住所更名为“温莎”，还将它定为家族姓氏。1952年女王即位，确定“温莎”为皇族姓氏。

　　However, in 1960, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh decided that they would like their own direct descendants to be distinguished from the rest of the Royal Family, as Windsor is the surname used by all the male and unmarried female descendants of George V。

　　It was therefore declared in the Privy Council that The Queen's descendants, other than those with the style of Royal Highness and the title of Prince/Princess, or female descendants who marry, would carry the name of Mountbatten-Windsor。

　　于是英国枢密院宣布，除去拥有王子(公主)头衔和已婚女性成员，女王所有的直系后代都要以“蒙巴顿-温莎”作为姓氏。

　　The effect of the declaration was that all The Queen's children, on occasions when they needed a surname, would have the surname Mountbatten-Windsor。

　　这项声明宣布之后，所有女王的孩子一旦需要表明姓氏，都会以“蒙巴顿-温莎”相告。

　　For the most part, members of the Royal Family who are entitled to the style and dignity of HRH Prince or Princess do not need a surname, but if at any time any of them do need a surname (such as upon marriage)， that surname is Mountbatten-Windsor。

　　大致说来，被赐王子或公主头衔的王室成员并不需要姓氏，但如果需要的话(比如说结婚等)，他们的姓则会是“蒙巴顿-温莎”。
