More than half of parents do not think sex education should betaught to children at school, according to a new survey.

　　The survey, which questioned more than 1,700 parents ofchildren aged five to 11, found that 59 per cent do not agree withthe fact that sex education is often taught to children in schools,even from a young age。

　　该调查访问了1700多名5到11岁孩子的父母，调查发现，59%的父母不认同现在许多学校对年幼的小孩进行性教育的行为。

　　Almost half (48 per cent) of those questioned said childrenshould be at least 13 years old before it is appropriate to teachthem about sex, the survey found。

　　Of those that don't agree that sex education should be taughtin schools, 41 per cent said it was inappropriate to teachyoungsters about the subject, while one in four (28 per cent) saidit should be the parents' choice to teach their own child。

　　Contraceptionwas the most popular topic that parents saidshould be covered in sex education lessons (chosen by 65 per cent)，followed by puberty(49 per cent)， homosexuality (48 per cent) andsexually transmitted infections (47 per cent)。
