  常见阅读理解的答题方法

  1.先看文章,再看文后问题。

  这种方法适合于较短的阅读短文,答题时一般可采用以下步骤:

  先快速浏览全文,大致了解文章大意和中心思想,然后再看后面的几道小题,把问题及其选项略读一遍,了解其内容以及在文章中的出处,最后带着问题进行细读,特别注意与问题有关的词和句子。

  2.先看问题,再看文章。

  这种方法适合于较长的阅读短文,答题时可以采用以下步骤:

  首先看几个问题和选项,从中将细节题和中心思想分开。第二步是带着这些细节题到原文中快速找到有关的词和句子,然后作出判断。最后再通过全文阅读把握文章中心,完成中心思想题。用这种方法,阅读直接性强,可减少无关信息的阅读时间,但缺点是不能顾及全局,不能借助中心内容的把握判断选项的对错。另外,孤立看问题容易忘记,往往看文章后还要看试题,这种做法对记忆力的要求较高。

  无论用哪种方法,必须了解其特点,还要了解自己的长短处,通过平时的有意训练,找出适合自己的方法,才能取得最佳效果。

  Passage 1

  一、阅读理解

  The world itself is becoming much smaller by using modern traffic and modern communication means (通讯设备). Life today is much easier than it was hundreds of years ago, but it has brought new problems.One of the biggest is pollution (污染).To pollute means to make things dirty.Pollution comes in many ways.We see it, smell it, drink it and even hear it.

  Man has been polluting the earth.The more people,the more pollution.Many years ago, the problem was not so serious because there were not so many people.When the land was used up or the river was dirty in one place, Man moved to another place.But this is no longer true.Man is now slowly polluting the whole world.

  Air pollution is still the most serious.Its bad for all living things in the world, but it is not the only one kind of pollution.Water pollution kills our fish and pollutes our drinking water.Noise pollution makes us angry more easily.

  Many countries are making rules (法规) to fight pollution.They stop people from burning coal (煤) in houses and factories in the city, and from putting dirty smoke into the air.

  Pollution by SO2 is now the most dangerous kind of air pollution.It is caused (引起) by heavy traffic.It is sure that if there are fewer people driving, there will be less air pollution.②

  The earth is our home.We must take care of it.That means keeping the land, water and air clean.And we must take care of the rise in population at the same time.

  But, there is another side.

  SARS is a reminder (提醒) of how fragile life can be. Suddenly, its not just the old people who are thinking about death.Everyone now realizes there might not always be a tomorrow.

  Wang Xinying, a student in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province came into connect (接触) with a suspected (疑似)SARS patient in midApril.He was told to stay at home for at least two weeks.“Watching TV about more and more SARS patients dying, I never knew that death could be so close.Life is valuable (珍贵的) and I'm going to treasure (珍惜) every single day.”he said.

  SARS teaches people to be grateful, both for their own lives and for others.Doctors and nurses, for example, have to spend all their time with infected (被感染的) patients.As a result, more than one fifth of SARS cases in China are medical workers.

  Xu Bing, a student of Beijing No.5 Middle School wants to be a doctor in the future.“Although they certainly know the dangers, doctors and nurses kept working hard on saving peoples lives.Im deeply moved by what they have done.I think they are real heroes.”he said.

  SARS also teaches sympathy (同情).The past few weeks have been terrible for Chinese people.But there are far worse things than SARS in this world, such as war, earthquakes and robberies.③ Think of the Iraqis, who have been living terrible lives for 20 years.Think of how the Americans felt on 9/11.

  And finally, SARS offers the chance to grow.All different kinds of people and the governments are joining together to work in this difficult time.When this passes, China and its people, will have learned great lessons.

  2.half, month。由第四段第二句“He was told to stay at home for at least two weeks.” 可知他被告知呆在家里至少两周, “至少两周”也可以说“大约半个月”。

  3.day, night。由第五段第二句“医护人员不得不与被感染SARS的病人一起度过所有的时间。”可知。

  4.join (work), together。短文最后一段升华了文章的主题——只要我们“万众一心,众志成城”,就一定能战胜非典。

  Passage 4

  本文是一篇关于战后伊拉克人民生活情况的报道。

  表示概数的结构为“计数单位的复数(hundreds, thousands, millions, billions)+of+n.(pl.)”,表示确数的结构为 “基数词+计数单位的单数+n.(pl.)”。例如:

  There are thousands of trees in the forest.森林里有成千上万棵树。

  There are about nine hundred students in this school.这所学校里大约有900名学生。

  世上无难事,只要肯登攀。Nothing is difficult to the man who will try.

  不进则退。Not to advance is to go back.

  2.Although they certainly know the dangers, doctors and nurses kept working hard on saving peoples lives.虽然医护人员知道危险,但是他们仍努力挽救病人的生命。(Line 18, Passage 3)

  although/ though 与but 不能成对使用,只用一者就表示“虽然……但是……”。类似的还有because与so,它们也不能成对使用。例如:

  虽然他病了,但是他仍然去上班。

  误:Although/Though he was ill, but he still went to work.

  正:Although/Though he was ill, he still went to work.

  正:He was ill, but he still went to work.
