Players from around the world linked up for the event
Some of football's biggest names got together on Saturday to help raise money for charity 为慈善机构募捐 ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The star-studded 星罗棋布的 encounter saw players such as Germany's Michael Ballack, Holland's Robin van Persie and Italy's Gennaro Gattuso take the stage 上场 in the city of Munich in Germany.

The fundraising 资金募捐 match was the first event organised by the Goal4Africa Global Foundation, a charity who aim to improve living standards 生活水平 and education in Africa.

They ask fans to donate money 捐钱 by text or online every time their favourite team scores a goal, and hope to raise $90m (600m yuan) by the start of the World Cup in South Africa.

Holland's Clarence Seedorf captained an all-star 全明星 side called Edu, while Ballack took the helm 做队长 of the second team, called Cation.

While it was Cation who took victory 9-6 on the day, Goal4Africa, will be hoping the real winner in the long run 从长远看来 is education.

 In a nutshell, Goal4Africa is all about building a legacy for the future of Africa by bringing together two great forces: education and football.

Goal4Africa's global ambassador 环球形象大使 Seedorf explained that the aim was to use the popularity of football to bring about 造成,带来 change in education.

Because this concept is quite simple, it can be explained "in a nutshell". In a nutshell means in as few words as possible or in a brief form.

We use this phrase when trying to talk about a complicated concept in just a few words.

The match was also held in honour of 向(曼德拉)致敬 former South African President Nelson Mandela, who turns 90 this month.

Mandela believes education is the most powerful tool for changing the world and fighting poverty 和贫穷斗争, and will be hoping this initiative can help build a legacy 创造遗产 for the future of Africa.

In Africa, where an estimated 大约 40 million children do not go to primary school, the need for better education is clear.
