Sergio: The US Open 2000 is no day at the beach.
Julia: I would be terrified out of my mind.
Sergio: Some players, especially Marat Safin from Russia, said that he liked to be afraid.
Julia: Why?
Sergio: When you are afraid, it gives you motivation and the adrenalin starts pumping through your body. If you approach it like you go to the beach then you probably won't win.
Julia: Last time Safin played he squandered a two-set lead in the third round. He still made the semi-finals.
Sergio: I saw that. He needed a fifth-set tie-breaker to survive.
Julia: Safin has a bad temper on court. He often smashes his racquets in on-court outbursts.
Sergio: His racquet abuse fines were about US,000 last year. Lately, he has been on his best behavior. I prefer to watch Anna Kournikova, she's young but she plays like a pro.
Julia: You are always watching the girls.
Sergio: Of course. That is what men are supposed to do. And can you honestly tell me that you don't watch Sampras or Patrick Rafter.
Julia: No comment.
