Julia is eating a pear.
Julia: This new genetically modified (GM) food tastes different from before.
Sergio: I suppose so. It is really hard to know the difference.
Julia: I can tell.
Sergio: How?
Julia: I can taste it. Natural fruit tastes sweeter than GM fruit. The natural product is also not so perfect.
Sergio: That's because the insects get at it. Scientists have been modifying food for some time. Just think about the seedless watermelon. How did a watermelon get seedless?
Julia: I forgot about that.
Sergio: There is probably much more than you or I realize. It just takes time to get adjusted to it. One thing I can't figure out though?
Julia: What's that?
Sergio: How do you grow seedless watermelons? I mean, if you need a seed to grow fruit then how do you grow new watermelons if you don't have a seed?
Julia: Good question.
Sergio: They say that soon they can put drugssintosfoods so that we can stay healthy by eating food.
Julia: It all sounds like science fiction to me. I hope they know what they are doing.
Sergio: Me too.
