Arsenal claimed their second league and FA Cup double in five seasons on Wednesday by beating Manchester United 1-0 to seal the league title at Old Trafford.
Four days after beating Chelsea in the FA Cup final, Arsenal survived ferocious United tackling in the first 20 minutes to win their 12th league game in succession thanks to a Sylvain Wiltord goal in the 56th minute.
United, who needed to beat Arsene Wenger's side to take the title racesintosthe final day of the season on Saturday, had three players booked in the first half but rarely troubled the visitors' defense in a lacklustre display.
The result ensured that the 1998 double-winners became the first top flight club since Preston North End in 1888-89 to remain unbeaten in every away game. They have also scored in every league game this season.
Liverpool's 4-3 defeat of Blackburn means that United, who have never finished out of the top two in the premier league, slipped to third in the league.
The celebrations in north London will continue on Saturday when Arsenal, who have now achieved the double three times, host Everton at Highbury in the last game of the season.
