Justin Rose has brokensintosthe world’s top 50 following his weekend triumph at the British Masters.
The Woburn win, his fourth of the season, took the 21-year-old to number 48 in the world rankings.
Rose carded a final round 65 to beat friend Ian Poulter by a stroke, and claim seventh spot in the Europeansgroupsof Merit in the process.
"It is sort of pinch-yourself stuff but I feel quite comfortable with it," he said.
"But I need to keep working hard and re-evaluating my goals.
"I've said for a while that a top-50 place in the world has to be one.
“I'm going in the right direction now."
Rose first came to people’s attention with a stunning showing at the 1998 Open. Rose, then 17, finished fourth overall to take the amateur prize.
For a while at least it appeared that Rose may prove to be a one-hit wonder, but the Hamphire-based pro has roared back this term claiming three titles prior to his British Masters victory.
His last win came at The Crowns tournament in Japan at the start of May, with two more victories coming in the Nashua Masters and the Dunhill Championship in South Africa.
