Nikky: let’s not talk about politics.
Brian: this is not politics, this is just a sport, u look around the world and you see it's like these people live and breathe this sport. And truly -- I mean that's the amazing thing about World Cup is you see the passion(热情,狂热).
Nikky: yes, I see South Koreans and they’re going crazy for this, and the thing I love about it is it only happens once every four years(四年一次).
Brian: this is something different with baseball and basketball(这也是和棒球及篮球不一样的地方。).
Nikky: and have teams - I mean I think France will win the whole thing. They didn't even or get through to the second round and they won it last time. (比如法国队,我认为他们会获胜,但是他们连第二轮都进不去,虽然上次是他们拿了冠军。)
Brian: so you never know what's going to happen. (足球场上,你永远不知道会发生什么。)
Nikky: never know what’s going on.
Brian: and Argentina, and Portugal. (还有阿根廷、葡萄牙)
【注】用美国队教练阿雷纳的话说,就是各国足球之间差距明显缩小,这种感觉在本届世界杯上尤其明显。
Nikky: right.
Brian: seems a lot of people r watching the soccer.
Nikky: there’s a lot of kids who’ve played soccer their whole life here in America.
Brian: so?
Nikky: but then they watch baseball, why is that?
Brian: I don’t know, just tell me, nikky.
Nikky: because-----I’m not going to say it.
Brian: go on say it. Come on, say it.
Nikky: I don’t know, that’s the dilemma(困境), I think.
Brian: maybe US doesn't have an environment that is conducive(有助于) to fans wanting to come.
【注】nikky说美国很多人一辈子都在踢足球,但是看球的人却很少,这一点与欧洲很不一样,归结原因,可能是美国的足球氛围不够吧。
Nikky: that’s right.
Brian: that’s right?
Nikky: yes, so most Americans, u know, the only time they are in Soccer was when the women were playing.
Brian: they r better soccer players
