Cylinda, a novice surfer, is talking with her friend and surfing guru, Roman, about surfing in Taiwan.
C:All right, Roman, I got my board --- second-hand, like you suggested --- and waxed it. Let's go!
R:Wait up. First things first. Though I dig the bikini you're wearing from an aesthetic point of view, it isn't going to hold up out there against the waves.
C:Maybe I'll wear a one-piece then. I don't want to be chasing my top out in the Pacific.
R:That'll work.
C:I'll go change. Then are we ready to hit the beach ?
R:Pretty much. The good thing about surfing is that you don't need a whole lot of stuff. All you need is a good partner.
C:For safety reasons and moral support, I guess.
R:You guess right.
C:OK, brah, so which beaches are good in Taiwan?
R:Fulong isn't bad, but it's often loaded with tourists. For beginners, I would say Honeymoon Bay, near the town of Daxi.
C:How about down south, in Kenting?
R:Spectacular. There's a nice beach at the southernmost tip, a place called Jia Le Shui. You will catch some nice swells there.
C:That's enough yakking it up. I'm all stoked! Let's go catch a wave.
