Put up
1.to build a wall, fence, or tall building.
建造(房屋等);搭起;张起(帐篷等)
Example: They’re putting up several new office blocks in the center of town.
2.to put a picture, notice etc on a wall so that people can see it.
张贴(布告、相片等);公布
Example: The exam results will be put up on Friday afternoon.
3.to increase the cost or value of something.
提高;太高(租金等)
Example: Our landlord keeps threatening to put the rent up.
4.to let someone stay in your house and give them meals
为…提供食宿;接待
Example: They agreed to put two foreign students up over the summer.
5.to suggest someone as a suitable person to be elected to a position.
推举,提名;参加竞选
Example: They’re putting Tom up as a candidate in the next elections.
