of the two versions given below you think is the better one. Why?
Version A
I mean when a person has nothing, he or she
must accept whatever help is offered.Tom could always get good remarks in
exams with the help of his good friend Jack, a top student. But one day he
failed in an exam. His mother criticized him. So he said sadly: "Jack
was absent for his illness. Jim was the only one I could ask for help,
who's a bad student. For 'beggars can't be choosers', I had to copy Jim's
papers."

whatever help you can get.

exams. But one day he failed one of his tests. When his mother scolded him,
he had to sadly admit that because Jack was out sick, he had had to rely
on Jim who was also a poor student. "For," he lamented, "
'Beggars can't be choosers' , and Jim was all the help I could get."
