　　有一位银行家总喜欢在顾客面前炫耀自己，于是就说自己认识很多名人。

　　第【1】串：play the peacock炫耀自己

　　In people's eyes, a man who always plays the peacock is not likely to succeed.

　　一天早上，他看到一位陌生人走进办公室，立即拿起听筒。

　　第【2】串：pick up拿起来，捡起来，接送

　　I have to pick her up at the airport before I come to the party.

　　“是的，阁下，您早，特别打电话给我实在不敢当。

　　第【3】串：Your Majesty！陛下！

　　In my heart, you are the most enlightened emperor in the world, your majesty!

　　什么？是今天吗？不过很抱歉，我已经跟某国大使有约，改天我会打电话过去，非常抱歉，阁下！”放下听筒的银行家，面对来客说：“请问贵姓？有何贵干？”

　　第【4】串：have an appointment with sb.与某人有约会

　　Sorry, I will probably be busy at three, for I have an appointment with Tom at half part two this afternoon.

　　“我是电信局的技师，因为你们这儿早上电话不通，我是来修理的……”

　　第【5】串：get through打通

　　What is the matter with your telephone? I cannot get it through.
