　　Tom tried to explain to the guards that he was a peasant boy, not the prince. However, they just thought that he was joking. Soon, Tom gave up trying to persuade people to believe him. He quickly learned the rules of the castle and how to enjoy living life as a prince.

　　While Tom was being waited on hand and foot, Edward was out on the street telling people he was really the prince. Of course, people thought he was mad, and he was thrown into jail. In the prison, the prince was stunned by the stories of injustice he heard.

　　Two sisters told him they had been falsely accused of being witches and were going to be burned alive. A small boy was going to hang for stealing a hawk which he had actually found wounded on the ground. The prince couldn’t believe people were treated so harshly, and vowed to make changes when he became king.
