　　HOW A NEWSPAPER IS PRODUCED

　　Every morning, the newspaper chief editor holds a meeting with the jour

　　1.get down to +名词或动名词开始认真做某事

　　to是介词，后面要跟名词、动名词，不能接不定式。例如：

　　After lunch we got down to discussing the problem.

　　午饭后我们开始讨论这个问题。

　　Let's get down to business.开始做事吧。

　　注意动词短语有许多以介词to结尾，不能把它们当成不定式，后面跟动名词，不能跟动词原形。例如：

　　devote to献身于look forward to期待listen to听

　　lead to导致stick to坚持pay attention to注意

　　object to反对be/get used to习惯于

　　2.fix a time /place/date for...确定……的时间/地点/日期

　　fix是一多义词。主要意思有：(1)确定，决定：fix a time (the date) for sth.确定……的时间(2)安装，固定，修理：fix the picture on the wall

　　把画固定在墙上，fix one's bike修理……的自行车(3)用眼睛盯着看：fix one's eyes on (upon) sth./sb.目不转睛地看着某物或某人(4)安排，和up连用：fix up

　　a meeting with him安排和他会晤

　　3.facetoface面对面的

　　辨析：facetoface是复合形容词，在此句中作定语；face to face用作状语，作“面对面地”解。

　　4.look up查阅

　　We often look up words in the dictionary.我们常在词典里查阅单词。

　　5.take pictures/photos拍照片

　　I enjoy taking photos.我喜欢拍照片。

　　He took a photo of me.他为我拍了一张照片。

　　6.in...situation在……形势下

　　表示“处于某种情况下”常用in。例如：in good order秩序井然；in place在适当的位置

　　7.主语+谓语+as+adj./adv.+as possible...尽可能……地做……

　　Our English teacher told us to practise writing as often as possible.

　　我们的英语老师让我们尽可能多地练习写作。

　　8.type.../into/...把……打进……

　　All the information must be typed /into/ the computer.

　　所有这些信息都要输入计算机。

　　9.用什么语言或什么颜色，常用介词in，不能使用介词with。

　　The letter was written in English.这封信是用英语写的。

　　I don't know the girl in red.我不认识那个红衣女孩。
