In our society,there are many professions for us to choose from.Different people choose different jobs according to their own interests and abilities.Some want to be scientists,lawyers or government officials,while others look forward to being businessmen,nurses,doctors,workers,etc. My son's dream is to be a marine biologist in the future,because he likes sea animals.Buttwenty years ago,my dream was to be a teacher,because I had always been fond of children.My dream came true when I was twenty-one years old.I have been an English teacher now for ten years.

　　I think teaching is a great profession. Teaching is like a ship,ferrying students across the ocean ofknowledge.Ateacher is like an angel,delivering knowledge to the hearts of the students.Without the teaching profession,science and technology would not develop as rapidly as it does.Without the teaching profession, younger generations would lose their way.

　　I think for teachers,teaching offers many advantages.First being a teacher means we can always stay young.When we are with children and young people every day,we can't help but think,play, laugh or even cry together with them.In our hearts we will never be old.Second, being a teacher allows us to be a student. We can continue learning through on learning from the books we use，the students we meet and the world around us. Third,a teachers'job isn't a routine one. We have a great dealmore independence and control over what we do than many other professions do.The content of our lessons and the way we give our lessons are mainly determined by ourselves. Fourth,we have more free time.We have long vacations.We can do whatever we like during our vacations,including reading,writing and research.And we can do whatever we like in our spare time,nobody willor can disturb us.

　　However,the teaching profession is notfor everyone.Itis a demanding job.It means redeyes,sweaty-palms and a sinking stomach.A teacher's pay and prestige are low and our hard work oftengoes unnoticed and unappreciated.ButI am sure people will respect us if we do our job well.

　　I like teaching.Itake a greatinterest in foreign language teaching,and thus I really want to do well in this field.Although it is tough to be a good foreign language teacher,Istillchoose it as my life-long goal.Foreign language teaching helps to strengthen communications between differentnations,improving mutual understanding and developing friendship.It contributes to the acquisition of language skills,for example,speaking, listening,reading,writing and translating,thereby,enabling students to participate more effectively in international trade and commerce,and to learn about technology used by other countries. When I see my students go abroad,I feel very gratified.

　　Of course,there is a long way to go before I attain my goal,but I'll try my best to achieve it.I'll devote all my energy and time to it,reading extensively,writing critically and understanding the roles of the foreign language.

　　I know，,to be a good teacher is not easy.From now on,I must study hard to obtain greater knowledge,I must read more books,and learn to have more humor.Most importantly,I must purify my souland be a good person throughout my life.I hope in the future I can be a teacher who is welcomed and needed by all my students.I think,if I really put my heart into it,I can surely attain my goal. And I am sure that rich knowledge,a strong sense of responsibility,selfless devotion and greatfondness for the strudents can make a good teacher.
