　　The farmers went on working in the fields, though it was dark.虽然天黑了，农民们还继续在田里干活。

　　After going over the first text, the teacher went on to explain the second text.复习完第一篇课文之后，老师接下来讲第二篇课文。

　　2.make sure确保；保证例如：

　　Mother said to me, "Make sure the door is locked when you leave."妈妈对我说："走时一定要确保门已锁好。"

　　3.fill...with ...用……充满……/ be filled with...充满例如：

　　Her eyes were filled with tears.她两眼泪汪汪。

　　辨析：be full of充满、挤满

　　The field was full of sheep feeding on the grass.地里到处是吃草的羊。

　　4.have some (no) difficulty (in) doing ...做某事有(无)困难例如：

　　Do you have any difficulty(in) working out this physics problem?解这道物理题你有困难吗？

　　辨析：It is difficult for ... to do ...某人做某事有困难

　　Is it difficult for you to work out this physics problem?解这道物理题你有困难吗？

　　5.reason for (doing) ...由于……的原因例如：

　　She had every reason for thinking so.她有一切理由这么想。

　　辨析：the reason why＋从句……的原因

　　This is the reason why the girl student came late for class.这就是那位女生上课迟到的原因。

　　6.be just about to ... when ...正要做某事，这时候……例如：

　　He was just about to pick up his pen to write when the telephone rang.他正要拿笔写字，电话铃响了。

　　辨析：be doing ... when ...正在做某事，这时候……；had just done ... when ...刚刚做好某事，这时候……

　　I was reading a newspaper when the doorbell rang.我正在看报，这时门铃响了。

　　I had just finished my homework when my father came in.我刚做完家庭作业，父亲来了。

　　7.nothing except/ but ...只有……；除了……什么都没有例如：

　　I bought nothing except/ but this book.我只买了这本书。

　　8.stop ... (from) doing ...阻止……做某事例如：

　　I really couldn't stop her (from) going home on that rainy night.我实在阻止不了她那天雨夜回家。

　　辨析：stop doing ...停止做某事；stop to do ...停下来做另外一件事

　　The meeting began and the listeners stopped talking.会议开始了，听会的人停止了说话。

　　He stopped to buy something for his little daughter.他停下来给小女儿买些东西。

　　9.so that / in order that为了……例如：

　　He works hard so that / in order that he can pass the exam.他努力学习是为了能通过考试。(目的状语从句)

　　辨析：so as to do ... / in order to do ...为的是……

　　He took taxi so as to (in order to) catch the train.他打出租车是为了赶上火车。(目的状语)

　　10.agree on就……取得一致意见例如：

　　We agree on this question.对这个问题我们意见一致。

　　辨析：agree with somebody同意某人的意见(有"同心"的意思)；agree to something同意、答应、接受(plan, suggestion, opinion, arrangement...) (有"协力"的意思)

　　He didn't agree with me but he agreed to my suggestion.他不同意我的意见但是接受了我的建议。

　　11.not all (every, each)...不是所有的(每一个)都……例如：

　　Not all the people could understand what I said just now. (=All the people couldn't understand what I said just now.)不是所有的人都能理解我刚才所说的话。

　　12.sound (look, feel, smell, taste) like…+ that引导的定语从句例如：

　　The noise sounded like a train that was going under my house. ( = The noise sounded like a train going under my house.)这声音听起来好像一列火车在我的屋子下面行驶。

　　13.be made into...被制成(make...into...制成)例如：

　　The fruit in our garden can be made into some jam.(＝We can make the fruit in our garden into some jam.)我们园子里的水果能制成果酱。

　　辨析：be made from...由……制成(成品中看不到原材料)；be made of...由……制成(成品中看得到原材料)

　　Wine is made from grapes.葡萄酒是由葡萄制成的。

　　This fishing rod is made of bamboo.这个鱼竿是由竹子制成的。

　　14.bring down (vt.)使下降例如：

　　It is said that the price of gas will be brought down.据说石油价格要下降。

　　辨析：go down (vi.)下降

　　It is said that the price of salt will go down.据说盐的价格要下降。

　　15.thanks to由于、多亏(常表示褒意)例如：

　　Thanks to your help I was able to carry these things up into my house.多亏你帮忙，我才能把这些东西搬进房里。

　　辨析：because of, as a result of由于(表示褒意或贬意都行)

　　Because of the heavy rain, the spring outing had to be stopped.由于大雨，春游不得不停止。

　　As a result of invention of computers, much work can easily and correctly be done.由于发明了电脑，许多工作做起来既容易又准确。

　　16.make a plan (n.) for...制定……的计划例如：

　　At the beginning of the term the teacher always makes us make a plan for our studies.学期初老师总是让我们制定一个学习计划。

　　辨析：plan (v.) to do...计划做某事

　　The government is planning to build a big bridge over the river.政府正在计划在这条河上建一座大桥。

　　17.join(...) in... (和某人一起)参加……活动例如：

　　I wanted very much to join them in the football game.我很想和他们一起参加足球比赛。

　　辨析：take part in参加……活动；attend参加，出席

　　Do you take part in the fighting?你参与战斗了吗?

　　Yesterday I attended an important meeting.昨天我参加了一个重要会议。

　　18.hear of...听到关于……例如：

　　Who is he? I have never heard of him.他是谁？我从来没听说过他。

　　辨析：hear from...收到某人的来信

　　I haven't heard from him for a long time.我好久没有收到他的来信了。

　　19.used to do...过去常常干某事；used to be...曾经是……例如：

　　He used to get up late.他过去常常晚起。

　　He used to be a soldier and join in fighting.他曾经是一名士兵并且参加过战斗。

　　辨析：be used to (doing)...习惯于(干)某事；be used to do (for doing)...被用来做……

　　He is used to (doing) hard work.他习惯于(干)艰苦工作。

　　The pan can be used to cook (for cooking) eggs.这个平底锅可以用来煎鸡蛋。

　　20.get along (on) with...与……相处例如：

　　I hear that my son is getting along (on) well with his classmates.我听说我的儿子与同学们相处得很好。

　　How are you getting along (on) with your studies?你的学习进展如何？
