"Excuse me.", "I'm sorry."和"I beg your pardon."可用来对可能被认为是"失礼"的言行表示歉意。

　　一、"Excuse me."常用于事先向别人表示歉意，"打扰别人、不同意、不赞成"时的道歉语，有时可作为一种要求，提醒听话人注意。意思是：请原谅，对不起，打扰了。如：

　　Excuse me, but I don't think that statement is quite true.对不起，不过我认为那话不十分真实。

　　-Excuse me for interrupting.

　　-Yes, what is it.

　　-对不起，打断一下您的话。

　　-行，你说吧。

　　-Excuse me, but may I ask you some questions?

　　-Certainly.

　　-对不起，我可以问你一些问题吗？

　　-当然可以。

　　在与人谈话时想暂时离开一会儿，常用"Excuse me."来打一下招呼。如：

　　Excuse me. I'll be back in a minute.对不起，我一会儿就来。

　　Just excuse me for a moment. I'll come back in a while.对不起，我一会儿就回来。

　　二、"I'm sorry."常用于事后向别人道歉。有时当没有理解或没有听清对方的话时，也可说：I'm sorry. (I'm very / extremely / terribly sorry.)如：

　　-Can you lend me a pound?

　　-Sorry, but I can't.

　　-你能借一英镑给我吗？

　　-抱歉，我无能为力。

　　I'm sorry to have kept you waiting for me.对不起，我让你们久等了。

　　I'm sorry I'm late.对不起我迟到了。

　　Sorry, I didn't quite catch you just now.对不起，我刚才没听清。

　　三、"I beg your pardon."的用法和"I'm sorry. "相似，但更为客气。如：

　　I beg your pardon for what I said.请原谅我所说的。

　　I beg your pardon?对不起，请再说一遍。

　　I beg your pardon for not finishing the homework in time.请原谅，我没有及时完成家庭作业。

　　在表示对不起的时候，"Excuse me."和"I'm sorry."常用升调，而"I beg your pardon."则用降调。但因没有理解或听清对方的话时说："I beg your pardon?"，"Beg pardon?"，"Pardon?",这时则都用升调。

　　四、其他表示道歉的说法

　　Pardon me/Forgive me.原谅我。

　　I've got to appologize for troubling you so much.给你添了这么多麻烦，我得向你道歉。

　　I'm afraid I can't，I have a meeting at half past two.恐怕不行，我2点半要开会。

　　I really didn't mean that at all.我真的完全没有那个意思。

　　I can't tell you how sorry I am.我不知如何道歉才好。

　　五、对别人道歉的答语

　　Not at all.一点也不(没关系)。

　　That's all right.没关系。

　　That's OK.没关系。

　　Never mind.没关系(别介意)。

　　No harm at all.一点也不碍事。

　　No problem.没问题。

　　No trouble at all.一点不麻烦。

　　Forget it. (没什么)忘掉它。

　　Please don't feel bad about it.请别为此不快。

　　It's nothing.没什么。

　　What for?为什么(要道歉)呢？

　　Don't let it worry you.不要为此烦恼。

　　Please don't blame yourself.请不要自责。
