在初中英语教材中一些"as...as"结构具有双重功用，现将这类结构归纳如下：

　　一、as good as

　　1. 表示同级比较，good作形容词用，意为"和……一样好"。例如：

　　This radio is not as good as that one on the shelf. 这台收音机没有架子上的那台好。

　　What he does is not as good as what he says. 他做的没有说的那么好。

　　2. 不表示比较，是副词短语，相当于almost,意为"几乎；实际上"。例如：

　　This dress is as good as new. 这衣服像新的一样。

　　二、as soon as

　　1. 表示同级比较，soon是副词，意为"和……一样早(快)"。例如：

　　I will come back as soon as possible.我将尽早回来。

　　He didn't reach the airport as soon as we had hoped.他没有我们希望的那么快到机场。

　　2. 不表示比较，用作连词，引导时间状语从句，意为"一……就……"。例如：

　　I will give you a call as soon as she arrives. 她一到，我就给你打电话。

　　As soon as you have finished the task,you can go to watch the football match. 你一完成任务，就可以去看足球比赛。

　　三、as well as

　　1. 表示同级比较，well是副词，意为"和……一样好"。例如：

　　He speaks English as well as his friends. 他英语讲得和他的朋友们一样好。

　　Miss Yang swims as well as Wei Hua. 杨小姐游泳和魏华一样好。

　　2. 不表示比较，通常用作连词，连接两个并列成分，意为"(除……之外)又；不但……而且……"等。"A as well as B"的短语为主语时，谓语动词要随A的人称、数而变化。例如：

　　Living things need air and sunlight as well as water. 生物除了需要水之外，也需要空气阳光。

　　The baby is lively as well as healthy. 这个婴儿既健康又活泼。

　　His children as well as his wife were invited to the party. 不但他太太，连他的孩子们都被邀请参加了那次聚会。

　　四、as far as

　　1.表示同级比较，意为"和……一样远；直到(远到)……"等，指实际距离。例如：

　　Yesterday I didn't walk as far as you, so I was not as tired as you. 昨天，我没有你走的远，因此，我没你那么累。

　　They walked as far as the end of the road after supper. 晚饭后，他们一直走到路的尽头。

　　2. 不表示比较，意为"就……来说"。在这种结构中，还可以用so far as。例如：

　　As far as he told me, he knew nothing about the plan.就他告诉我的情况而言，他对这个计划一无所知。

　　As/So far as I know, he has been to Guilin twice.据我所知，他到过桂林两次。

　　五、as long as

　　1. 表示同级比较，long可作形容词或副词，意为"和……一样长"。例如：

　　It is said that the police spent as long as one month looking into who had stolen Mr Li's car. 据说，警察花了长达一个月的时间来调查是谁偷了李先生的车。

　　The Yellow River isn't as long as the Changjiang River. 黄河没有长江长.

　　2. 不表示比较,用作连词,引导条件状语从句,意为"只要……的话"，还可以用so long as。例如：

　　So long as you would like to learn, I will help you.只要你愿意学，我就帮助你。

　　I think as long as we work hard we will succeed sooner or later. 我想只要我们工作努力的话，我们迟早会成功的。
