be+动词过去分词"表示被动意义，是大家所熟知的，如：I'm not so easily deceived. (我不是轻易上当受骗的。)但下列四种情况，却具有主动含义，有的还在主动意义上进行了引申。现归纳总结如下：

　　一、英语中有些表示"必然性，肯定性"含义的单词，如：destine, bind, doom等，在"be+v.ed"结构中具有主动含义，一般可译为"必定，肯定"。例：

　　Coming from a theatrical family, I was destined for a career on the stage. 我生于戏剧工作者之家，注定了我的舞台生涯。

　　They are destined never to meet again.　他们肯定再无缘相遇。

　　That ship is destined for Dalian. 轮船肯定是驶往大连的。

　　You've done so much work that you're bound to pass the exam. 你下了这么大功夫，一定能考及格。

　　We are bound in win.　我们必胜。

　　Are whales doomed to extinction?鲸鱼是否注定要绝种？

　　The invaders are doomed to failure.　侵略者注定要失败的。

　　二、那些表示人的站立，就座等含义的单词，如：seat,　plant(站立)，　root和strand(滞留，搁浅)等，在此结构中表示主动意义。例：

　　The boy is seated on an elephant.　那小男孩坐在大象身上。

　　The queen of that country was seated last year. 那个国家的女王是去年登位的。

　　The student was planted at the school gate. 那个学生站在校门口一动不动。

　　Tom was rooted to the ground with fear. 汤姆害怕得呆立在那儿。

　　Jackson was stranded in a foreign country. 杰克逊滞留外国一筹莫展。

　　三、某些表示心理活动的动词，如：decide, oppose, lose, attach, tempt, incline等，在此结构中也具有主动意味。例：

　　His father is quite decided about it. 他的爸爸对此事下了决心。

　　The headmaster is opposed to this plan. 校长对这个计划持反对态度。

　　The pretty girl was lost in thought. 这可爱的女孩陷入沉思之中。

　　Mary was greatly attached to music. 玛丽酷爱音乐。

　　They are tempted to win the match. 他们试图赢这场比赛。

　　I'm inclined to trust him. 我比较信任他。

　　He's inclined to be lazy. 他爱偷懒。

　　四、还有一些表示地理方位的静态动词，如：locate, situate等，在"be+v.ed"结构中，主动味更浓，可译为"位于，座落"。例：

　　That university is situated in the suburbs. 那个大学位于市郊。

　　The hotel is located near the lake. 这宾馆座落在湖畔。
