同学们知道，冠词分为定冠词(the)和不定冠词(a或an)两类。它是一种虚词，在句子中不能独立充当成分。通常只能放在一个名词前面，说明此名词的含义。如：a very clever student, an English teacher, the tallest boy 等。但在下列情况下，冠词须置于修饰语与名词之间。

　　一、such, half, many及感叹句中的what等词须置于不定冠词a或an之前。例如：

　　He never met such a good man before. 他以前从没遇见过这么好的人。

　　He'll be back in half an hour. 他半小时后回来。

　　Many a student likes playing basketball. 许多学生喜欢打篮球。

　　What a good girl she is! 她是一个多么好的女孩啊！

　　注意：当half作为某数的零头时，不定冠词要放在half前，如two hours and a half两个半小时，不可说成two and half an hours。

　　二、当单数名词前的形容词被so, as, too, how等副词修饰时，不定冠词a或an应放在形容词与名词之间。例如：

　　Have you ever read so interesting a book? 你读过这么有趣的书吗？

　　Jim is as clever a boy as Li Lei. 吉姆和李雷一样是个聪明的孩子。

　　This is too difficult a question for him to answer. 这个问题对他来说太难回答了。

　　How nice a present it is! 这是一件多么漂亮的礼物啊！

　　三、quite, rather与单数名词连用，且两词之后没有形容词时，不定冠词a或an须位于名词之前，quite或rather之后。即构成 "quite/rather a+名词" 结构。例如：

　　He's quite a man. 他是个真正的男子汉。

　　但是，如果quite/rather后面还有形容词时，不定冠词置于quite/rather之前，有时也可置于quite/rather之后。例如：

　　It's quite a nice horse. =It's a quite nice horse. 它是一匹相当好的马。

　　She has got rather a good voice. =She has got a rather good voice. 她有一副好嗓子。

　　四、定冠词通常置于all, both, double, twice, most of, three(four…) times等词之后。例如：

　　Both the twin sisters are fat. 这对孪生姐妹都很胖。

　　Our room is twice the size of theirs. 我们的房间比他们的大一倍。

　　Most of the students are not late for school. 大多数学生上学没迟到。
