　　这三道试题的答案分别是C, C和D.这三道试题所给选项都有一个in terms of,它的意思是"就……而言;根据,按照".又如:

　　It is a small country both in terms of size and population. 就面积和人口而言,它都是一个小国.

　　The work is not very profitable in terms of money, but I am getting valuable experience from it. 就钱而言,这项工作并不太有利可图,但是我将从中取得宝贵的经验.

　　除了in terms of以外,"就……而言"在英语中还可用其它一些词或短语来表达.

　　1. for

　　She looks young for her age. 就年龄而言,她显得年轻.

　　He is short for a man. 就男子而言,他算是矮的.

　　It is rather cold for May. 就五月的天气而言,算是很冷了.

　　It is a dreadfully expensive toy for what it is. 就这个玩具的质量而言,价钱实在是太贵了.

　　2. as far as...be concerned

　　She can't hold a candle to her mother as far as cooking is concerned. 就烹调而言,她远远不如她的母亲.

　　As far as he was concerned, everything was going well. 就他而言,一切进行得很顺利.

　　3. as for

　　Most people like summer, but as for me, I like winter much better. 大部分人喜欢夏天,但就我而言,我更喜欢冬天.

　　As for me, I will stick to the undertaking. 就我而言,我要把这项事业坚持下去.

　　4. in point of

　　In point of size, no land animal can compare with an elephant. 就体积而言,任何陆上动物都不能与象相比.

　　In point of cost, the first plan is the better. 就费用而言,第一个计划较好.

　　5. in the case of

　　In the case of a physical change, no new substance is formed. 就物理变化而言,没有新的物质产生.

　　You needn't worry about the girls. In the case of Mary, she can take care of herself. 你不必为那些女孩子担心.就玛丽而言,她能够照顾自己.

　　In the case of a highly intelligent animal like the seal, elementary training is easy. 就海豹之类高智力的动物而言,进行初级训练是不困难的.

　　此外,词缀-wise加在词干后构成的新词在句中作状语,也含有"就……而言"的意思,如weatherwise(就天气而言),educationwise(就教育方面来说),taxwise(在赋税方面),curriculumwise(就课程方面来说),housingwise(就住房问题而言)等等.例如:

　　Dollarwise, business is better than ever-but not so good profitwise. 就成交的美元数额而言,生意的确比过去兴隆了--但从利润方面来看,情况不见得比过去好。
