1.学会略过某些生词。在阅读中，应逐步学会迅速判定并跳过对阅读理解影响不大的生词。如：Bamboo is a very useful plant.只要知道bamboo是一种植物的名称就可以了，至于是什么植物，不必去追究。
(1)利用“构词法知识”猜测。例如：Perhaps, we can see some possibilities for next fifty years.possibility是 possible的同根名词，据此可以断定 possibility 意思是“可能性”。
(2)利用“上下文情景”猜测：相当—部分生词的词义是可以从文章中出现的同义词、近义词、反义词或上下文，甚至在通篇理解的基础上去猜测、发现的。如：The child is too young to dress and undress himself.通过上下文，学生就能猜出undress在这儿是“脱衣服”的意思。
