1. apology n. 道歉；认错

　　He made an apology to me for losing my pen.他为弄丢我的钢笔而向我道歉。

　　比较：apologise vi. 道歉

　　He apologised to me for stepping on my foot. 他为踩到我的脚而向我道歉。

　　2. accept vt.

　　①接受；认可：Will you accept his invitation? 你会接受他的邀请吗？

　　②承认；相信：Don't accept his story as true. 不要把他的话信以为真。

　　【辨析】accept & receive：accept表示主观上接受，而receive表示客观上收到。

　　3. argue v. 辩论；主张；认为

　　We all argue these points next time.下次我们再辩论这些论点。

　　I argued about the government's new economic policy with him. 我与他辩论政府的新经济政策。

　　词组：argue sb. into / out of doing sth. 说服、劝说某人做某事 / 不做某事； argue about sth. with sb. 就某事与某人辩论。

　　4. cloth n.

　　①布；衣料：This cloth wears well. 这布料很耐穿。

　　②抹布；桌布：He used an old cloth to wash the car. 他用一块破旧的抹布擦洗车子。

　　比较：clothes n.(复)衣服 / clothing n.(总称)衣服。

　　5. choice n.

　　①选择：Make a careful choice of your friends. 慎重选择朋友。

　　②供选择的东西：That's the best choice. 那是最佳选择。

　　词组：have no choice but to do sth. 除了做……别无选择。

　　6. degree n.程度；等级；度；学位

　　an angle of ninety degrees 90度的角

　　He passed his examinations and now he has the degree of Master. 他通过了考试，现在他有了硕士学位。

　　7. forgive vt. 原谅；饶恕，宽恕

　　I'll never forgive you for what you have done to your parents. 我永远也不会原谅你对你的父母所做的事。

　　You are forgiven. 你得到宽恕了。

　　词组：forgive sb. for doing sth. 原谅某人做某事；forgive and forget 原谅并忘掉；既往不咎。

　　8. opportunity n. 机会；时机

　　I lost no opportunity of studying abroad. 我不错失任何出国留学的机会。

　　词组：catch / seize / take an opportunity 抓住机会；give / offer an opportunity 提供机会；lose / miss an opportunity失去机会。

　　9. majority n. 大部分；多数(与minority相对)

　　The majority were in favour of the proposal. 大多数人赞成这个建议。

　　He was elected by a large majority. 他以很大的优势当选。

　　10. struggle vi. 斗争；奋斗；挣扎

　　The people were struggling to get out of the burning building. 那些人挣扎着跑出着火的大楼。

　　词组：struggle against 与……作斗争；struggle for 为争取……而奋斗；struggle to one's feet 挣扎着站起来。

　　11. consider vt.& vi.

　　①考虑；细想：He is considering what to do next. 他正考虑下一步做什么。

　　②认为；看做(无进行时)：We consider him (to be) the most warm-hearted boy in our class. 我们认为他是我们班最热心的男孩。

　　词组：consider (doing) sth.考虑(做)某事；be consi-dered as (to be) 被认为是……；consider...as (to be)... 认为……是……。
