1. I very rarely get colds, although, usually for me, I had a bad cold and a bit of a fever last week. 我很少感冒, 尽管上周我患了重感冒有点发烧, 但这对我来说很少见。 although 引导了一个让步状语从句,被插入的副词短语 “usually for me”隔开。 “副词 + for sb.”经常在句中作状语,表示“对某人来说……”,“令某人……的是”。 如:Happily for him, their team won the football game. 让他高兴的是,他们队赢了那场足球赛。 2.When Zhou Kai's mother saw him heading towards the front door without a jacket on, she eyed him anxiously. 周凯的妈妈看到他没穿夹克衫就往前门走去时,她担心地盯着周凯。 1) head toward / for...:朝某个方向或某地运动、行进。如: She headed straight toward home after school. 放学后,她径直朝家里走去。 2)“eye”在句中用作动词,表示“(以某种方式)观察或观看……”。 如: They were ey(e)ing us jealously. 他们嫉妒地看着我们。 英语中名词转化成动词的现象很普遍,掌握这种构词法,对扩大词汇量大有益处。比较: (1) I'll draw you a map of how to get to our school. 我给你画一张到我们学校的路线图。 (2) Culture exchanges are a way of building bridges between nations. 文化交流是国与国之间建立联系的桥梁。 3.That couldn't be better. 不可能再好了/ 够好的了。 “couldn't + 形容词或副词的比较级”,常用来表示对已经发生的事情的判断、评价。 如: 1)—What did you think of the film last night?你觉得昨晚的电影怎么样? —It couldn't be worse. 再糟糕不过了。 4.Until recently this system was very successful but recently there have been problems. 这种(医疗)制度最近出了一些问题,但在此之前一直是很成功的。 “until recently”与一般过去时连用,表示某个动作或状态持续到最近,但已结束;与现在完成时连用,则表示一直持续到现在。比较: My mother was ill until recently,but she's completely recovered.前段时间妈妈身体一直不好,不过现在已经全恢复了。 My mother has been ill recently.妈妈最近一直生病。 (文/翟朔凤; 英语辅导报外研新标准高一版 04~05学年度第11期;版权归英语辅导报社所有,独家网络合作伙伴新浪教育,未经许可,不得以任何形式进行转载。) |
