2. 典型题例解析。

　　例1 How much did the man pay for the tickets?

　　A. $16.00. B. $12.00. C. $6.00.

　　原文：W: Tickets are four dollars for adults. Children’s tickets are half the price.

　　M: Okay, I’d like two adults’ and two children’s tickets, please.

　　简析：这道题涉及到加法和乘法运算，而且还要听清并弄明白half的含义及与其它数字间的关系。由于数字相对比较多，关系又比较复杂，所以听的时候不妨将数字和相互关系简要地记录下来，即2 adults’ and 2 children’s，就不难得出：$4×2+$2×2= $12，即答案是B。

　　例2(1) What does the woman think about the man?

　　A. He is not good to the children.

　　B. He is not telling the truth.

　　C. He sleeps too much.

　　(2) What is the possible relationship between the woman and the man?

　　A. Wife and husband.

　　B. Doctor and patient.

　　C. Boss and secretary.

　　原文：W: Morning, Bob. Late again?

　　M: Oh, I’m so sorry. I can’t tell you how sorry I am.

　　W: Hmm. What’s the excuse this time?

　　M: Ah... I must have turned the clock off and gone back to sleep again. I...

　　W: Yeah, and last week, one of the children wasn’t well.

　　M: Yes, I... I know.

　　W: Hmm.

　　M: I’m really sorry. I promise it won’t happen again.

　　简析(1)：对话中，这位妇女没有直接表明她对这个男士的看法和态度，却用了What’s the excuse this time?这样的反问句来表示了对他撒谎的不满，同时根据前后的语境，不难得出答案是B。

　　简析(2)：根据Late again，one of the children wasn't well以及上下文的一些内容，可知这不可能是医生与病人之间的对话，也不可能是夫妻间的对话，所以答案是C，即这是男士上班再次迟到后与老板之间的一段对话。

　　例3 How did the man feel about the chicken?

　　A. The chicken is as good as his beef.

　　B. His beef is better than the chicken.

　　C. The dinner is not satisfactory at all.

　　原文：M: You know, that was a great dinner. But I don’t think her chicken is as good as my roast beef.

　　W: To tell the truth, I thought it was tough.

　　简析：这里的关键是要听清楚男士说话的内容。但由于前面说了赞扬的话(that was a great dinner)，后面又表达了对主人做的chicken的不满意。所以要全面理解对话之后，才能知道答案是B。

　　例4 When does the conversation take place?

　　A. Before class.

　　B. After class.

　　C. During class.

　　原文：M: Thank you very much, Miss Tims....

　　W: I will. Thank you for giving up your coffee break to help....

　　M: Well, goodbye and thanks again.

　　W: You’re welcome, Carlos. See you in class Monday.

　　简析：根据Carlos 说的“Thank you for giving up your coffee break to help...”以及Tims女士最后说的话“See you in class Monday.”可推断出，这段对话发生在课后。所以答案是B。
